Varathan malayalam movie review

Saw the movie first day first show.. The movie starts with scenes in Dubai, giving us expectations of a foreign shot movie.. But after few minutes tge whole movie revolves in a beautiful hillstation in Kerala.. Except the last 15 minutes, the whole movie is more or less a typical ' award movie'.. No entertainment, no comedy, no chaos... All expectations will go down wasting time and money at theatre... The justice will come in the last 15 minutes... All energy and all loud in yht last minutes..
If you are looking for a family movie, or entertainment, this is not the movie you are looking for.. The script and direction is splendid.. All actors did a great job.. Worth a one time watch..

Review of Keraleeyam restaurant, Raviz Resort & Spa Kadavu, Kozhikode

I recently visited the Keraleeyam restaurant at Raviz Hotel in Calicut. I went for buffet lunch with my friends. First of all I have to apprecaiate the hospitality of the people there, they were polite and friendly. I reserved my seats by phone and reached there by 12.45PM. The food was ready and we occupied the lake facing seats as I mentioned during the phone call. There is AC hall nearby where you can have there also. The food items are kept there only.
Coming to the food. If you are a pure veg, I don't recommend the restaurant. Not because the food is not good, it won't justify the money you give. For lunch buffet it was 700 + Tax (total of 824 per head). No difference between veggies and non veg, like that in Barbecue Nation and all. There was soup, main course, fruits and sweets.
There was one veg and one non veg soup, out of which everyone liked the non veg one which was a chicken based soup. In the main course, there was 4 non veg items; chicken biriyani, fish curry, beef curry and mutton curry (dont remember the exact name for these items). The non veg dishes were good. It doesn't feel heavy too. There was kappa and fish curry too. There was two varieties of rice, noodles, avial, thoran, daal curry, palak paneer, curd, pickles for the veg people. And in the sweets, there was around 4 varieties including cakes. The strawberry cake was so sweet and felt little bit heavy for stomach. Payasam was also there.
Overall the ambience was good. The price was little bit high (I think the dinner is cheaper). Overall it was a good time there. Its worth a one time try.

Mahatma Gandhi is not the 'Father of the Nation'. Read more here.

A Lucknow-based student Aishwarya Parashar filed a number of RTI petitions seeking details about Gandhi and the reasons for referring him as Father of the Nation.  In response, she was told that no such title has been accorded to Gandhi.
Driven by a patriot zeal, Class VI student of the City Montessori School, Rajajipuram branch, Aishwarya wrote to the then President Pratibha Patil and Prime Minister Manmohan Singh to issue a notification declaring Mahatma Gandhi as 'Father of the Nation'.
Aishwarya had filed an RTI petition seeking to know the action taken on her plea to the President and the Prime Minister.
In an RTI response to Lucknow-based student Aishwarya Parashar, the home ministry has told her that no action was taken on her plea to the President to declare Mahatma Gandhi as 'Father of the Nation' because Article 18 (1) from Part III of the Constitution does not permit any titles except education and military ones like Dr., Major etc.

History, however, holds that the title of Father of the Nation was given to the Mahatma by Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose, who in his address on Singapore Radio on July 6, 1944, has addressed Mahatma Gandhi as Father of the Nation. Thereafter on April 28, 1947, Gandhi was referred with the same title by Sarojini Naidu at a conference.

Hindi is not the National Language of India: Read more details here

Even though majority of people in India have accepted Hindi as a national language, there was nothing on record to suggest that any provision has been made or order issued declaring Hindi as a national language of the country.

The observation was made by the division bench of Chief Justice S.J. Mukhopadhaya and justice A.S. Dave recently while rejecting a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) by one Suresh Kachhadia.

Mr. Kachhadia had filed the PIL last year seeking direction to Central and State government to make it mandatory for manufacturers to print details of goods like price, ingredients, and date of manufacture in Hindi.

The court observed, “Normally, in India, the majority of the people have accepted Hindi as a national language and many people speak Hindi and write in Devanagari script but there is nothing on record to suggest that any provision has been made or order issued declaring Hindi as a national language of the country.”

“No mandamus can be issued to any manufacturer or others for giving details or particulars of the package in Hindi in Devanagari script,” it further said.

It was contended by Mr. Kachhadia’s lawyer that Hindi was the national language and was understood by a large number of persons in the country.

The Counsel representing central government submitted that specific provision has been made under the Standard of Weight and Measures (Packaged Commodities) Rules of 1977 that particulars of declaration should be in Hindi in Devanagari script or in English.

The court said that the Constituent Assembly while discussing the Language Formula noticed the recommendation of the Sub-Committee on Fundamental Rights, which recommended the formula as per which, “Hindustani, written either in Devanagari or the Persian script at the option of the citizen, shall, as the national language, be the first official language of the Union. English shall be the second official language for such period as the Union may, by law, determine.”

However, in the constitution, Hindi was declared as an official language and not a national language.

The court in its order said Part XVII of the Constitution deals with Official Language. Under Article 343, the official language of the Union has been prescribed, which includes Hindi in Devanagari script and English.

A girl search in Google 'How to commit suicide?', the result given by Google was appreciable

A 24 year girl was so depressed when her boyfriend left her and decided to commit suicide. This happened after her lover got a govt job and due to pressure from his parents, he left her. She upon depression decided to end her life. She decided to end her life in Yamuna canal, which was hardly 4kms from her home.
Just before her final move, she thought of searching in google on ways to commit suicide. She searched in Google 'How to commit suicide?'. The results Google gave was quite impressive. Instead of showing different methods to commit suicide, it showed 'Suicide Helpline numbers.

She dialed one of the numbers that appeared on the screen. The Deputy Inspector General of Police received the call, upon hearing her story convinced her to get counseling.

According to DIG Jitendra Kumar Sahni,
On January 3, I got a call from the girl on my public number. She was quite nervous and was about to end her life. She told me she had even searched how to kill herself on Google. Among the search results, she told me, she found my number. I heard her out and told her to come to my office so we could talk about it in detail.

She reached the DIG office and explained her story to him. The DIG asked  the station officer of the women’s police station to take the matter in her hands and give counselling to the girl. The female inspector got in touch with the boy and talked to the couple to search for better options for a better future.

The technology saved a girl's life and Google deserves all the appreciation.

Review of Chembra peak trekking in Wayanad: Read this before you go

Me and my friends went for a trip to Wayanad on Christmas day. The trekking to Chembra peak was one of the best in our time spent there. We were a group of 6 including boys and girls. I will give review of my trek and suggestions for those going for first time in this post.
For those going for first time please note these things:

  • The trekking will be open by 7.30 in the morning. The earlier you come, less tired while trekking. Before coming enquire about exact timing.
  • The ticket charges is 750rs for a group of 10. Even if it is less than 10 you have to pay full amount. They don't allow people to form group there. But people used to do it.
  • They will provide guide if you want. But it is not necessary.
  • Once to reach there, the road is not good for last 2 kms to the trekking base. If you have a vehicle with good ground clearance you can proceed. Otherwise, jeeps are available upto there. But its little bit costly, 800 rs to and fro.
  • Don't take children less than 8 yrs and old people. Trekking is not that easy.
  • Those who are having asthmatic problem don't forget to take medicines with you.
  • Carry atleast 1 litre bottle for two people. Once trekking starts, there is no shop for water or food.
  • Its better to wear a shoes with good grip. That will help you lot from skidding.
  • Take a good camera too. The scenic beauty is so good esp at top. Even a good mobile will do.
  • Minimum luggage. Maximum comfort.
  • Don't wear tight dress or tight jeans. That will be good.
(you start from bottom, see building in red colour. This was taken almost 70% distance to top)

The above things you note before to go to the place. Now I will tell what all you do and what all you not do, to make this trekking the best.
  • Once you start trekking up, take minimum stops in between. Obviously you will feel tired. But try to cover maximum distance. Take a small break and continue. Its better to reach top before its hot.
  • While taking rest also, better don't sit. Once you sit, you will feel like sitting often..!!
  • Drink minimum water. Once you drink more water, you will feel tired faster. Drink water just to keep your throat wet.
  • Make sure your group stay together. Its easy to go in a group.
  • Don't ever think like going back in between. You are going to miss it a lot..!!
  • Be careful of skidding. Even though accidents don't happen, be careful.
  • Once you see the heart shaped lake, take some snaps there, but don't touch the water as it will prevent animals from using the water.
  • There is place near to the lake where there is good view to bottom. Mostly people go there too. Just 50m or so.
  • While coming down, be careful of skidding again. Give way for those going up

Enjoy your journey. Give your queries and experience below. Like us on Facebook to see more posts. Thank you for reading this article.
